DELICIOUS SULTANA SCONES

A REAL TREAT TO PERFECT YOUR AFTERNOON TEA

Ingredients
Self-raising Flour450 g
Baking Powder2 tsp
Whitworths Caster Sugar500 g
Butter, softened and cut into cubes110 g
Free-range Eggs2
A Dash of Milk
Sultanas, optionalHandful

PREPARATION METHOD

For the sultana scones:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 C. Grease your baking trays
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder and your Whitworths Sugar into a bowl.
  3. Then add the softened butter. Use your hands to combine until you get a crumbly mixture
  4. Crack your eggs into a jug, add your milk so the mixture reaches 300 ml
  5. Mix the egg and milk mixture into your flour batter
  6. Move the mixture onto a lightly floured work surface, knead lightly and add the sultanas in
  7. Then roll your dough into a rectangle shape about 2 cm thick
  8. Cut into lots of rounds, as many as you can, roughly 5 cm
  9. Place them onto your baking trays
  10. Brush a bit of milk onto them so they are nice and golden
  11. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden
  12. Split the scones and serve with cream and jam
